With only his jeans, steel toe boots, and his old guitar, Juan left his parents home to pursue his destiny. His family had worked in the railroad yards for generations, he knew he had another purpose. So he set on one of those same trains as a vagabond and went were ever those tracks took him. With him always, his faithful companion, his music.
In the early years, he adapted soulful style from across the boarder, classic rock. Juan as much as a Mexican teen he was, he knew all the music to from the big names, The Eagles, Clearwater Creedence Revival, Chicago, and so on. So it was this style that he always stuck to. He traveled up and down various big cities and played with many, but always it was the same. His destiny was somewhere else. So as always, he jumped on the train once more.
It wasn't until one evening while he worked at a toll booth, that a bus load full of American Missionaries stopped by. He recalls that the youth pastor told him about the love of God and everything that He had in store for him. Juan tried to shrug it off, but a seed was planted. And even thou he had not really accepted Christ, he wrote what would be his first song that included a message that the Lord had put in him. We will be revealing this song later :)
Since that faithful evening Juan continued on his mission, one filled with struggle, pain, despair, and a false sense of freedom that he got as he traveled on the roofs of rail cars. He roamed the streets of Mexico and America, only as an adventure he recalls. An adventure that was preparing him with out him even knowing, something that he could not even imagine himself. Later we will hear more about Juan's journey, but for now let us thank our Lord for this.
The reason Petiluz first feature is Juan Saucedo is because he is indeed a genuine person who has been blessed with so much talent, and he choose the right path. Instead of playing in big stadiums next to the "Stars", he choose the humbleness of praising the Lord. His ministry "Ministerio Sacrificio" has survived decades, and as Juan says, "My God and my music are always with me."
Let Juan's story be an Inspiration to you. Live, Love, and reach for your Dreams!
You can listen to some of his treasured music at: https://www.petiluz.com/musicians-with-resilient-dreams. This is part of a project that was recorded over 10 years ago at with Rocky at Sound Garden in Porterville, CA.
Nothing like finishing a 10 hour shift at the factory and then heading over to the recording studio to lay down 17 tracks in two hours. Great job Juan, don't you all agree?
